Mosaic Project 2010

Workshops with High Flyers, Wombourne

During weekly workshops my friends at the High Flyers of Wombourne and I have worked hard to make this Mosaic for the front of the Wombourne Library.

Pegasus for Wombourne Carnival June 2010

I again worked with High Flyers to craft this winged horse from wire and polystyrene.  This helped the High Flyers float to win the first prize at the Wombourne carnival.

Swindon Art Class

At the end of 2009 my friends and I at my Art Class in Swindon completed a large piece of work painted in acrylic on plywood and pictured below.  This was commissioned by the South Staffordshire Council for the Wombourne Leisure Centre and has been featured in the Express & Star.

The art group started up in 2004 at the U.R.C. Chapel School Room next door to our house on the High St in Swindon.

Starting at 10.00am on Friday mornings we finish at 12.30pm.

Group Project - Wombourne Leisure Centre                                        Pictured with (from left) Kate, Liz, Mary & Phyllis

We have gathered some lovely enthusiastic members whose work has progressed in leaps and bounds.  We have painted in watercolours, oils, pastels and acrylics.  We have even produced some work in mosaic.

Many of the group are painting beautiful portraits, still lifes and landscapes in their own preferred medium which their family and friends often ask them if they can keep.

A few of our members were quite nervous about doing such a public piece, but the work has been very much admired and has given them confidence and the desire to start up another joint project.  We are considering starting a mosaic to go up in Swindon.

New members of any ability are always welcome.   Just phone, email me or join us any Friday morning! (01384) 270721
